3-Counties Lacrosse Club Code of Conduct for Club Personnel
All personnel must:
§ Consider the well being and safety of participants before the development of performance
§ Develop an appropriate working relationship with performers, based on mutual trust and respect
§ Make sure all activities are appropriate to the age, ability and experience of those taking part
§ Promote the positive aspects of sport
§ Display consistently high standards of behaviour and appearance
§ Follow all guidelines laid down by the English Lacrosse Association and by the club
§ Hold the appropriate, valid qualifications and insurance cover
§ Never exert undue influence over performers to obtain personal benefit or reward
§ Never condone rule violations, rough play or the use of prohibitive substances.
3-Counties Lacrosse Club Code of Conduct for Coaches
The code of conduct set out below forms a benchmark for all involved in coaching at BLC
§ Coaches must adhere to all guidelines laid down by the English Lacrosse Association
§ Coaches must respect the rights, dignity of each person and treat each equally within the context of sport
§ Coaches must put the well being and safety of each player above all other considerations, including the development of performance
§ Coaches must develop an appropriate working relationship with each player based on mutual trust and respect
§ Coaches must not exert undue influence to obtain personal benefit or reward
§ Coaches must encourage and guide players to accept responsibility for their own behaviours and performance
§ Coaches must ensure that the activities they direct are planned, in advance and be delivered in a progressive way that is appropriate to the age, maturity, experience and ability of players
§ Coaches should, at the outset, clarify with the players (and where appropriate, parents/carers) what is expected of them and also what they are entitled to expect from their coach
§ Coaches must always promote the positive aspect of the sport and never condone violations of the rules of lacrosse or behaviour contrary to the sport of these rules. Nor must they condone the use of prohibited substances or techniques
§ Coaches must consistently display high standards of behaviour and appearance. They should not use or tolerate inappropriate language
3-Counties Lacrosse Club Code of Conduct for Parents / Carers
§ Support your child to arrive on time and properly equipped for all practices and matches
§ Assist coaches by giving them early notice of your Childs unavailability for any sessions
§ Encourage your child to learn the rules and play within them
§ Discourage unfair play and arguing with officials
§ Never force your child to take part in sport
§ Set a good example by recognising fair play and applauding the good performance of all
§ Never punish or belittle a child for losing or making mistakes
§ Accept officials and coaches judgements
§ Support your Childs involvement and help them enjoy their sport
§ Use correct and proper language at all times

§ Treat everyone how you would like to be treated – never deliberately upset a team-mate or someone in your training group, even if they have made a mistake
§ Always listen carefully to what your coach is asking you to do, especially when talking about safety
§ Always compete within the rules, and respect officials and their decisions
§ Always respect opponents and applaud good performances whether by your own team or by the opposition
§ Never use bad language while training or competing
§ Always tell your coach if you have an injury or feel unwell
§ Keep to agreed timings for training and competition (please inform your coach if you are going to be late or unavailable)
§ If you have to leave a training session/competition early, make sure that you have told your coach
§ Be responsible for bringing to sessions suitable kit for training and competition
§ Do not smoke or take alcohol or drugs of any kind on the club premises or while representing the club at competitions
§ If anything happens at that you are concerned about, whether it relates to you or to someone else in the club, make sure that you tell your coach or another adult
